What is Acne? And How Do I Get Clear?

So What is Acne? A lot of people come to me for acne consultations and continue to tell me " I don't know why I have acne now in my late 20s-30s" " I never had acne in high school" " It's just hormonal" Well I'm here to tell you that you can get acne at any age and any stage in life. Just because you didn't have "Active" breakouts in high school doesn't mean that you don't have acne-prone skin. I had the same mindset about acne once. Most people just think that acne is just a bacterial infection or because of hormones. I struggled with acne in high school. I went to the dermatologist and was put on several medications, topical creams and harsh cleansers and nothing worked for me. I believe it didn't work because they didn't have the right approach to acne.

What is Acne?

Acne is an inherited disorder of the pores where dead skin cells shed much faster than normal. Normal pores shed at a rate of approximately 1 layer of dead skin per day inside the pore. Acne prone skin sheds at a rate of 5 layers per day inside the pore. That is a lot faster than normal skin. So say thanks to mom and dad for passing this down to you. This 5 layers causes buildup inside of the pore. This buildup forms a microcomedone. A microcomedone is where all acne lesions start. This microcomedone turns into a blackhead or a whitehead under the skin. If bacteria is present, it feeds on the dead skin cells and sebum(oil). This creates inflamed pimples or pustules and possibly even cysts. This entire process can take up to 90 days.

Well how do I get clear?

Now you know what acne is, but how do you get clear. Because it can take up to 90 days for acne to form. When you start the clearing journey you may still have 90 days or acne that will surface. With my help and the correct products we will keep the new acne from forming 90 days from when you start this process. The Acne program will have your acne under control in 3-6 months, depending on your acne type and severity. Some types of acne take longer to clear. We will come up with a customized protocol and home care routine just for you!

What is my commitment?

Yes, it is my responsibility to give you the tools and resources to get clear but it is your responsibility to use those resources and my recommendations for you. You must use your customized home care routine exactly as directed, You must receive treatment and/or check in with me every 2 weeks, you must follow lifestyle recommendations and changes where possible, including diet, stress management, and pore-clogging ingredients in skin, hair, and cosmetic products.
